Slide 1

    Preliminary task
EXPLANATION The preliminary task was to film and edit a script, based upon an idea which we created, as a group we decided to create a clip that was in the Thriller Genre, we selected this Genre as a group because we thought it would be fun to film. The clip had to be 45 second long and fitting to the Genre task, when filming our clip we stared from the beginning of the narrative to add suspense. WHAT WE HAD TO INCLUDE;In the preliminary task we had to include; a match on action shot, a shot reverse shot, and an 180 degree rule.

Slide 2

    Match on action
Match on action is an editing technique for continuity editing in which one shot cuts to another shot portraying the action of the subject in the first shot. This creates a sense of continuity, the action carried out creates a 'visual bridge' this engages the viewer and takes there attention away from the slight clipping/editing or continuity problems.

    Shot reverse shot
Shot reverse shot is a continuity editing technique used in conversations or characters simply looking at each other or an object. The shot shows what the character is looking at or who they are talking to, it is either at there point of view or over there shoulder. It then shows a reverse shot of the other character looking back at them. Shot reverse shot can often tie in with an 180 degree rule to regain continuity, this keeps the audiences sense of location in tact.

Slide 4

    180 degree rule
The 180 degree rule is one of the most basic continuity filming techniques, it states that two characters in a scene have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the rule is broken or you don't follow the rule then it can disrupt the whole audience.
