What is a Digipak?

A Digipak is typically made from cardboard with internal plastic. It's a type of packaging mainly for CDS or DVDs, to hold one or more discs."Digipak" was a trademarked product, first created by MeadWestVaco. However, the format became more and more popular. They are now very common and used by more manufacturers.

How does a Digipak Benefit the Artist?

A Digipak will most likely embody a theme and message about the artists image. This links to emphasising the artists brand image which increases popularity of the artist. The Digipak also highlights the artistic and creative approach the artist is taking throughout music. For example, lyrics and visuals seen in the songs / music videos will be conveyed onto the album covers but the images would be more obscure and abstract. All aspects of the Digipak, brand image and music video are all intertwined together.Digipaks benefit the artist and their music as its a promotional product of the music industry which helps to bring awareness to the artist thereby selling the artist;; encouraging consumers to buy and listen to their music.
