Resumen del Recurso

Página 1

1. Electrons are transferred. Proteins from inner membrane take high-energy electrons from NADH and FADH2 from the Krebs Cycle. 2. Hydrogen ions are transported. High-energy electrons tavel from protein to protein in the ETC. The proteins use energy from electrons to pump hydrogen ions across the membrane. They then build up in the inner membrane space. (Which is in between the inner membrane and the outer membrane.

3. ATP is produced. The flow of hydrogen ions is used to make ATP.  The hydrogen ions dffuse through a protein channel in the inner membrane. The channel is part of the ATP synthase enzymeme. ATP synthaze adds phosphate groups to ADP to make ATP molecules. 4. Water is formed Oxygen picks up electrons and hydrogen ions to form water.(Half an oxygen mixed with 2 Hydrogen ions make H2O as a waste product.)
