Página 1

NO NUCLEUS!!

Small and simple cells with few to no organelles.

Have cytoplasm and a cell membrane.

Ex. Bacteria

Contain nuclei and other organelles that perform special functions.

Uni or multicellular

Ex. Plant and Animal Cells

Cell membrane: provides barrier between internal and external environment of cell semi-permeable (some things can enter, exit, or neither) made of phospholipid bilayer with protein that allow for large molecule to enter and exit the cell. main job is to establish homeostasis (maintain the cell's environment)

Cytoplasm entire region between nucleus and cell membrane semi-fluid substance organelles are suspended in cytosol

Cell Wall only found in plant cells an extra layer of protection for the cell and gives support made of cellulose very porous and allows molecules through but is not selectively permeable

Fluid Mosaic Model The fluid mosaic model is the cell membrane The membrane and proteins are not locked into position and can be moved and punctured Flow against each other as the cytoplasm and the external liquid environment dictate
