1. The enzyme and substrate have the same shape and join. - Enzyme e.g. Catalase - Substrate e.g. H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide)2. Once the enzyme and substrate have joined together. The substrate files into the 'active site' and the bonds in the substrate are weakened. 3. Substrate then splits into products which leave the 'active site' - Product e.g. Oxygen
How Enzymes Work
- Enzymes are made of protien
- Enzymes are biological catalysts, but they are not alive.
- Animals have faster/more chemical reactions therefore they produce more hydrogen peroxide.
- 3D shape has changed = enzyme has denatured
