Task 5a What is the difference between this village school and your own school? The village school doesn't have a building nor furniture as in my country - Norway. They sit out in the open without walls, and they only have a blackboard. In Norway we have to have all of this and even more for it to be called a school. We also have more expensive equipment such as a smartboard and pc's.b What is the difference between the village students and the students at your school? The only difference between the students at the village school and at my school is the setting. The motivation always depends, it's just that the village kids will suffer more from not compleating school because of the setting.c Who do you think takes schoolwork most seriously, the village kids or you?I feel the mayority of the people at the village school will take schoolwork most seriously than most people in norway.d Who understands the power of knowledge best, the village kids or you?Probably the village kids understands the power of knowledge better because with knowledgfe they can rise higher in society, and understand more of the surroundings.e Who do you think is most likely to pass goos exams, the village kids or you?Taking what I've said before into consideration, most likely the village kids will work harder and therefore score better at an exam. All in all everything is going back to the setting and consequences. f Are you motivated for school this year?I am motivated because I live to learn, and I want to do my best so I can have a bigger opportunity to become whatever I would want to.
Task 4a Does the title fit the story? In a way it does. Mr Foster got stuck in an elevator on the way up, but he died so he didn't manage to get there. I suppose that's symbolic of his way up to heaven.b What do you think Mrs Foster is listening to outside the front door?Mrs Foster is listening to Mr Foster yelling for help because he's stuck in the elevator.c Is Mrs Foster a good wife in your opinion?Mrs Foster is a wife that listenes to her husband and doesn't go over the line with him. With that in mind she is a good wife however in the end she hears him cry out for help, but she decides to leave him. That's not being a good wife.d Do you symphathise with Mrs Foster? Do you understand why she did what she did? Do you think she should go to prison?I can sympathise witrh Mrs Foster, but I don't think she did the right thing with leaving her husband to die even though he wasn't a good husband at all. Instead whe coul've simply told someone else to get him so she could make it to the airport in time. With that in mind she shold go to prison for knowingly that without her help a person would die.e What do you think Mrs Foster will do now?I think she would act it out as she didn't know anything, and then live normally as a wife that lost her husband in a tragic accident.f How would you describe Mr Foster's attitude to his wife? What evidences is there of his attitude?Mr Fosters attitude towards Mrs Foster is bad, and he just wants to bring her misery in life. In the text he drags the time out on purpose even though he knows his wife can't stand it.g Is there anything in the text indicating the Mr Foster does not deliberatly tourment his wife?At first glance you wouldn't notice, and its not written in words that specify it. What that is there is the indication that she's scared of him, and that's the reason she never pushes the line and asks him to hurry. In a way this could indicate that he's abusive and threathning.h Describe what you think happened to Mr Foster.Mr Foster went inside to find the present, but got stuck in th elevator. He cried out for help, but did't get any and died of lack of food and water.i "They alway seemed to to be meeting in the hallway nowdays." What does tgis tell us about their relationship?Meeting in the hallway says that their relationship is not very good. They only see eachother when they have to.j Is the ending of the story predictable or does it come as a surprise? The ending is kind of predicteble by the fact that Mrs Foster would once turn and not obey her husband, but that she would leave her husband to die was not predicteble at all, and came as a big surprise.k In what way are the letters she wrote from Paris ironic? The letters Mrs Foster wrote is really ironoc because her husband was stuck in an elevator, and that says that he woldn't get any food. Therefore with Mrs Foster to write that he wouldn't be able to take his meals regularly is pretty ironoc.l What label would you put on this story? The story fits in the leabels such as funny, sinister and scary because it shows how some people can seem innocent, but can keep dark secrets.
