Presence of active disease (bleeding to probe in pockets greater than 5mm) A well-motivated patient who has achieved a high standard of plaque control, both supra- and subgingival, but who still has evidence of active disease. Presence of subgingival calculus in a patient who is prone to periodontal disease despite an absence of overt clinical signs of inflammation.
