Pregunta 4

Pregunta
Veins [blank_start]return[blank_end] deoxygenated blood to the heart and arteries take [blank_start]oxygenated[blank_end] blood [blank_start]away[blank_end] from the heart, with the exception of the [blank_start]pulmonary[blank_end] artery which takes deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
Respuesta

Pregunta 5

Pregunta
What does diastole mean?
Respuesta
  • The contraction of the heart
  • The relaxation of the heart

Pregunta 6

Pregunta
Starting from the left atrium, state the order in which the blood flows through including lungs, valves, veins and arteries. First, oxygenated blood is pumped from the left atrium, through the [blank_start]bicuspid[blank_end] valve and into the left [blank_start]ventricle[blank_end]. Then, the blood gets pumped through the [blank_start]semi-lunar[blank_end] valve and through the [blank_start]aorta[blank_end] where it gets transported to the rest of the body. After it has been through the body and the oxygen has been used, the deoxygenated blood travels through the [blank_start]vena cava[blank_end] to the right [blank_start]atrium[blank_end]. The right atrium then contracts, pushing the blood through the [blank_start]tricuspid[blank_end] valve and into the [blank_start]right ventricle[blank_end] where it contracts to and forces the blood through the [blank_start]semi-lunar[blank_end] valve into the [blank_start]pulmonary[blank_end] artery to the lungs to be oxygenated. The then oxygenated blood gets pushed back to the heart via the [blank_start]pulmonary[blank_end] vein back into the left atrium.
Respuesta
  • bicuspid
  • ventricle
  • semi-lunar
  • aorta
  • vena cava
  • atrium
  • tricuspid
  • right ventricle
  • semi-lunar
  • pulmonary
  • pulmonary

Respuesta
  • Growth and repair
  • Transporting substances
  • Maintaining homeostasis
  • Maintain structure

Pregunta 9

Pregunta
How can carbon dioxide be transported in the blood? (More than one)
Respuesta
  • Dissolved in water as carbonic acid
  • Combined with myoglobin
  • Combined with haemoglobin
  • In the blood plasma

Pregunta 10

Pregunta
Valves help with the [blank_start]unidirectional[blank_end] flow of blood
Respuesta
  • unidirectional
  • monodirectional

Pregunta 11

Pregunta
Coronary arteries supply the heart muscle with [blank_start]glucose[blank_end] and [blank_start]oxygen[blank_end]
Respuesta
  • glucose
  • oxygen

Pregunta 12

Pregunta
The [blank_start]medulla oblongata[blank_end] controls how fast the heart beats
Respuesta
  • medulla oblongata

Pregunta 13

Pregunta
Systemic circulation is when [blank_start]oxygenated blood from the left ventricle[blank_end] is transported to the [blank_start]whole of the body's tissues[blank_end] [blank_start]by a network of arteries and arterioles[blank_end].
Respuesta
  • oxygenated blood from the L. ventricle
  • deoxygenated blood from the R. ventricle
  • whole of the body's tissues
  • lungs
  • by a network of arteries and arterioles
  • via the pulmonary artery
