    Bagru Prints ( Introduction )
    • TASK 1 - Research on these patterns and write a brief report on it. Bagru printing is a traditional printing technique that is done using natural colours. It is a craft practiced by the 'chippas' community in a remote town of Rajasthan. Bagru printing is generally done on a blue or indigo background.

    USP of Bagru Prints
    Bagru is most famous for its typical wooden hand block prints. These prints of Bagru are acclaimed all over India, and are particularly known as "Bagru prints". The Prints of Bagru, unlike other prints, involve a different kind of printing. The unique method for printing employs wooden block in it.

    Making of Bagru Prints
    These fabrics are prepared for printing through a natural bleaching process and printed using traditional natural dye recipes. This is 100% cotton fabric printed using vegetable dyes. This is a soft and smooth Indian cotton block print fabric that is made using Indigo dye obtained from Indigo plant and white print is made using resist dyeing technique in which a paste made of clay is applied to white fabric and then left to dry, after the fabric is dried it is emerged in indigo dye solution in big vat after which the fabric is washed and dried.

    TYpes of Bagru Prints
    Differenet geometric patterns are: Leher (waves),  Chaupad (checks),   Kangura (triangles),  Jaali — a gridded trellis pattern

    Task 2 - bookmark making (Bagru)
    TASK 2 – (i) Draw your patterns on any card / make bookmarks showing these patterns / use any coloured sheet or plain sheet to showcase your pattern. (ii) Describe your pattern and write a rule for it.

    My Bagru Art - Bookmark
    This Fabric has Bagru Hand Block pattern on 100% Cotton Fabric with background made from Natural dye from Indigo plants.   Rule used- This pattern is based on Jaali (Gridded pattern) where there are semi-circles on one line are preceded by subsequent semi-circles in the mid of the next lines.
