Timeline 1988 - Born in Austria 1904 -1908 - Studied with Schoenberg 1906 - completed PhD in musicology at university of Vienna 1945 - dies
Additional notes extremely short works. Entire pieces only a few minutes and movements sometimes less than a minute. Less Romantic than Schoenberg and Berg. Doesn't subject theme to development, links cells together using a melody of changing tone color. Greatest influence on a number of post WWII composers.
