USA is a developed country and they predicted that the storm was going to hit New York but hit New Jersey instead as the path of a tropical storm cannot be predicted
Social effects	More than 150 people were killed Millions were left without electricity Transport was disrupted and businesses, homes and schools were damaged
Economical effects	Property damage was US$65 billion There was a short supply of petrol The New York marathon was cancelled affecting income from tourism
Environmental effects	Coastal nature reserves were damaged Flooding lead to millions of raw and untreated sewage
Individual responses	People could buy a ticket to a concert held for Sandy Relief
Organisational responses	The American Red Cross helped by providing relief to victims
Governmental responses	Billions of dollars were voted through legislation to help with rebuilding and supporting the victims New York set up a local government office to support the rebuilding
