QB quarterback position that throws the ball
RB running back position is who runs the ball
WR wide receiver position is who catches the ball from the quarterback.
C the center is the position who snaps the ball to the quarterback.
Passing Routes intentional routes that are run by a wide receiver or running back to catch a pass from the QB. There are various routes; however, we studied the slant route, the hitch/hook route, the drag route, and the streak route.
Each team is allowed ____downs to attempt getting a first down. 4
Line of scrimmage the imaginary line where the center snaps the ball.
Man defense when a player guards a specific player the entire play
Zone defense when a player is responsible for guarding a specific area on the field
Defense when a defensive player touches an offensive player who has the ball, the play is now marked “dead”. (*one hand or two hands can be used to make contact)

What are the laces' role in football/what are the characteristics? Laces are the thread, string, or rubber that are used to fasten the football boots. Typically white in color and the laces also can help with gripping the football.
What should be the number of players on a football team? Teams must be even. Fair game examples are 5 v 5, 6 v 6, 7 v 7
What is a Mississippi count? Defenders rushing the QB-depending on game play, rushing the QB must be established before the game. Immediately after the ball is snapped on a 5 “Mississippi count”.
Flag Guarding when an offensive player blocks a defender with their hands from taking their flag
What happens if the the flag on a player is pulled? Players must wear a flag. When the flag is pulled by a defender the play is stopped and that becomes the new line of scrimmage.
Slant route Players run straight but then take a sharp slant route with the ball
Hitch/hook route the receiver runs up the field a certain distance and then quickly stops and turns back to the quarterback to catch the ball.
drag route where the receiver runs a few yards, then turns 90° towards the center of the field and runs parallel to the line of scrimmage.
streak route a pattern run where the receiver runs straight upfield towards the endzone
