what is 1-alpha? the confidence interval for u
to find the probability that a value will be near u you need to find m. how do you do this? P(u-m < x bar < u+m) = 1-alpha. subtract u from both sidesand divide each portion by sigma over square root of n. P(-m/sigma/square root of n < Z < m/sigma/square root of n)= 1- alpha. this is equal to - M = Za/2(sigma/ square root of n). this is only used when the sample is greater then 30
how do we find the probability for the values if the sample is less then 30? X bar + or – ta/2 (sigma/ square root of n)
how do you find the probability for graph with a confidence level of 95% calculate the outter sections by finding alpha over 2 which gives you 0.005. add this to 0.99 to find the area of the main section. which is 0.995. use this value to find the z score and then plug in for Za/2
