Q: What weather does high pressure cause? A: Clear skies (hot weather in summer)
Q: What does the term Weather mean? A: The state of the atmosphere

Q: What is relief rainfall? A: When the wind meets a line of high hills or mountains, the air rises and cools - producing rain.
Q: What is frontal rainfall? A: When a warm air mass meets a cold air mass, the warm air is forced upwards - producing rain
Q: What is an air mass? A: A body of air with uniform levels of temperature, humidity, and pressure
Q: What is convectional rainfall? A: When the ground gets heated by the sun, the air above it gets hot and rises. The warm, moist, rising air cools and condensation occurs. As water droplets become larger, they fall as heavy rain
A: Stage 1 The sun heats the ground and warm air rises. Stage 2 As the air rises it cools and water vapour condenses to form clouds. Stage 3 When the condensation point is reached large cumulonimbus clouds are formed. Stage 4 Heavy rain storms occur. These usually include thunder and lightening due to the electrical charge created by unstable conditions.

A: Stage 1. Warm wet air is forced to rise over high land. Stage 2. As the air rises it cools and condenses. Clouds form and precipitation occurs. Stage 3. The drier air descends and warms. Stage 4. Any moisture in the air (e.g. cloud) evaporates
Q: What weather does low pressure cause? A: Unsettled weather (the lower the pressure the stormier the weather)
Q: Name 7 factors that affect climate A: Latitude, Distance from the coast, Prevailing wind direction, Ocean currents, Altitude, Shelter and Urban heat islands
