Why does limewater go cloudy when mixed with carbon dioxide The lime and the carbon dioxide react to form calcium carbonate, meaning a solid in the particles is formed and this turns the lime water cloudy.
Why does acid rain damage limestone When acidic rainwater falls on limestone or chalk, a chemical reaction happens. New soluble substances are formed in the reaction. These are washed away and the rock is weathered.
