Any item, factor, or condition
that can be controlled or
changed.
Independent
The one that is manipulated or
changed by the scientist.
Dependent
The one observed or measured in the experiment.
Discrete
Can only take on
discrete specific
values.
Quantitative
Variables that have are measured
on a numeric or quantitative scale.
Controlled
The one which the researcher holds constant
(controls) during an experiment.
Examples
If we water a plant with different amounts of water (liters) the height will
change. The independent variable is the water, because we are
changing it. The dependentt is the height because it´s afected by
the water. The q
When boiling water. The controlled variable is the
temperature and the amount of water and the time. This can´t
change to repeat and have the same results.
Quantitative: height,
wheight, temperature,
preasure, velocity, time, etc.
The number of client that enter a certain store. The variable
can only be in that time interval. And is the number of clients.
