    1. Appearance

                1. seems like a prison
          2. "Against the walls were 8 bunks, 5 of them made up...the other 3 showing their Burlap ticking." P.G 19
            1. Doesn't sound like a nice place.
              1. Not good quality - "Burlap ticking"
            2. "In the middle of the room stood a big square table littered with playing cards, and around it were grouped boxes for the players to sit on." P.G 19
              1. Is a sociable place
            3. What happens
              1. Fight between Curley and Lennie
                1. Curley doesn't like Lennie
                  1. " Well nex' time you answer when you're spoke to." P.G 28

                    2. "He slashed at Lennie with his left, and then smashed down his nose with his right." P.G 71
                      1. "Curley sat down on the floor, looking in wonder at his crushed hand." P.G 72.
                        1. Curley started the fight but he ended off worst for wear.
                      2. The decision to kill Candy's dog

                              1. Carlson convinces Candy that the right thing to do is to kill his dog.
                          2. Crook's room

                              1. Is not just his living space it is his work space as well

                                    1. Bunk house is a sociable space, Crook's room is an isolated space

                                        1. "Crooks possessed several pairs of shoes, a pair of rubber boots, a big alarm clock and a single-barreled shotgun. And he had books, too; a tattered dictionary and a mauled copy of the California civil code for 1905." P.G 76

                                                1. Lennie wants to feel her dress

                                                    1. She is surprised and tries to run away but Lennie holds on
                                                      1. Lennie and George get run out of Weed
                                                        1. "An you ain't gonna do no bad things like you done in Weed, neither." P.G 7
                                                2. Why Weed?
                                                  1. is called Weed because it is represented as a horrible place to be
                                                    1. Like a garden weed
                                                    2. Name foreshadows that something bad is going to happen
                                                  2. The Barn
                                                    1. Appearance
                                                      1. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary barn
                                                        1. " One end of the great barn was piled high with new hay...At the sides the feeding racks were visible." P.G 95
                                                          1. Are features that could foreshadow Curley's wife's death
                                                            1. "four taloned Jackson fork suspended from its pulley." P.G 95
                                                              1. The hanging fork represents Curley's wife's fate hanging in the balance
                                                          2. "The end of the barn that had not yet been filled with hay." P.G 95
                                                            1. Where Curley's wife is killed
                                                              1. Represents an open grave, waiting to be filled with Curley's wife's dead body.
