WATER, NATURE, PLANET EARTH. English
Activity. Yerson Leandro Laverde.
Not many people have access to water -as it
is introduced by the information on the
website-, it's mainly caused by high levels of
demography, and poor infraestructure for
the cities to urbanize correctly. Most
institutions neglect sanitation and hygiene,
since it presents a big issue to be capable of
distributing to such big numbers and in equal
quantities. We have the believe that water is
a renewable source where we can suck
everything we want from it, but it only
happens if properly regulated. And we know
this isn't the case.
How valuable is water to people?
It's hard to tell, since water is oftenly misused for many situations that don't belong to the case,
like using it to for the mere purpose of throwing it. I'd say we treat it as something to purchase
and simply a service, more than recognizing its big importance.
How valuable is water to the economy?
Water here costs like 500 pesos per unit (the price depends of
the size). But it's truly important to bussiness because it's
literally used for anything: Agriculture, sell 'n' buy offers,
extinguish fires, bath with it, etc... Capitalism searched for a
product that everyone would need no matter what, and they
found it.
How valuable is water to the environment?
Well, this is an obvious cuestion; since water it's the only source of
hydration, we can't expect to encounter alternatives to replace it.
So it has a big impact into life's development, making it the top
thing for us to give it the importance it deserves.
How valuable is water to societies?
Very, since drinking is commonly a
tradition where I'm from, this is due to
the great familiarization of the well
recognized Colombian's social life
How valuable is water to you?
As a human being, I give it the top value for
the "resources chart", and personally, I'm
very worried of what will happen in the
future if this problem keeps going further.
