How effective is making maths and science mandatory in Yr. 11 & 12 for students in Australia?

Would it be a positive change?
1. Students would develop their STEM skills

4. Creates more jobs- people have skills requirement that future employers are looking for

1. Will the nation’s success rate drop?
2. Increase in yr. 11 and 12 drop outs?

International Comparison
1. Is maths and science mandatory anywhere else
  1. In China, Russia, Finland, South Korea and Singapore. Math is compulsory until the end of school.
  2. Across the USA it is a requirement for high school graduation.
  3. In the UK is it not a requirement for Yr 12 but is a requirement for Yr 11
