fiddly notes that stand out from the main tune
trills
1. tiny quick notes
2. baroque= the trill starts one note above the written note then goes quick back and forth between the written note and the note you started on
3. classical= the trill usually starts on the written note and goes up to the note above
4. the second to last note is usually one below the written note
appoggiaturas
1. clash with the chord
2. takes half the value of the following note
3. big interval between the two notes
4. the note after is always one above/below
  1. it is called the resolution, which has to be from the accompanying chord
5. fall on strong beat, the resolution note falls on a weaker beat
6. acciatura's have a line through and played very quickly
MORDENTS AND TURNS
1. set patterns of notes
2. mordents start off like trills
  1. although they end on the written note, which is played abit longer
  2. upper mordents
  3. lower mordents
3. turns start on note above the written note, then the note below the written note. tthen ends on written note
4. an inverted turn starts on the note below written note-> through written note->note above that->back to written note
passing notes
1. link the notes before and after
2. weak beats
3. when they are on the strong beats they're called accented passing notes
