  1. Proteins

    Nota:

    • Proteins assist the body in growth and repair. They are often found in animal product such as cheese, milk, meat eggs and sometimes in vegetables, soya-bean, nuts and pulses
    1. Carbohydrates

      Nota:

      • Carbohydrates are needed to give the body energy. there are two types..sugar and starch. 
      • Starch is found in cereals, cornflour, potatoes, pasta and flour.  Sugars are found in fruit, vegetables, honey, milk and malt products. 
      1. Fats

        Nota:

        • fat is need to give the body concentrated sources of energy and to insulate the body. There are also two type: saturated and unsaturated.
        • Saturated fat are usually obtained from animal sources for example butter and lard. 
        • Unsaturated fats come from vegetable sources, such as sunflower oil. 
        1. Minerals

          Nota:

          • Minerals are needed in small amounts to help the body function properly and stay strong. Calcium and Iron are two very important minerals!
          1. Calcium

            Nota:

            • Calcium is needed in the growth of strong and healthy teeth. sources of calcium are, milk, cheese, eggs, etc. 
            1. Iron

              Nota:

              • Iron is needed for the growth of red blood cells within the body. Sources include, red meat, lentils, green vegetables, eggs and bread.
