Resumen del Recurso
Holderness coast, cliff collapse and coastal management
the coastline is 61km long
1.8 m of land is lost every year
reasons for rapid erosion
the rock type is easily eroded as it is boulder clay
naturally narrow beaches- the narrower the beach the more power a wave has
groynes have been built further up in Mappleton
meaning that sediment isn't washed further down so the coast eroded's more easily
they face the prevailing wind which means the waves are more powerful
impact on peoples lives
homes near the cliffs are at risk
property prices have fallen
roads have fallen off the cliff so access has become difficult
businesses are at risk from erosion
so people lose their jobs
environmental impact
