The Hydrological Cycle
  1. 1) Transpiration
    1. The return of water (as water vapour) to the atmosphere by plants.
    2. 2) Condensation
      1. The change of a state from water vapour (a gas) to a liquid (when cooled).
      2. 4) Infiltration
        1. The gradual movement of water through the soil and into the ground below.
        2. 6) Groundwater flow
          1. The movement of water beneath the ground towards rivers / the sea.
          2. 3) Precipitation
            1. Water falling, under gravity, from the sky; there are many forms, i.e. snow, rain and hail.
            2. 1) Evaporation
              1. The change of state from liquid water to a gas (when heated).
              2. 7) Channel flow
                1. The movement of water within the river channel.
                2. 4) Surface runoff
                  1. The down slope movement of water over the surface of the land, towards river channels.
