Divorce
Roman Catholics allows annulment but "a ratified and consummated marriage cannot be dissolved by any human" (Catechism)
Church of England allows (sometimes) divorce and remarriage
"Anyone who divorces his wife (except in the case of unfaithfulness- Mark5) and marries another commits adultery" (Mark 10)
Quakers allow divorce as it is a matter of the courts and the Church only deals with spiritual matters
Scottish Presbyterian Church allows divorce as marriage is not a sacrament nor forever-binding but a life-long agreement

Quakers: adultery distorts scared purpose of marriage but sin can be forgiven
Roman Catholics: purpose of sex is for procreation "sexual act must take place exclusively within marriage" (Catechism)
Church of England: could lead to unwanted pregnancies
Conservative Evangelicals: "Do not commit adultery" (Exodus 20) and St Paul taught that sexual immorality is unacceptable

Raising a family: "foundation of family life"
Declare/celebrate love: "will you love him/her?"
Exclusive commitment: "unending love and faithfulness"

Main purpose of marriage to bring up children in the Christian faith
Keeping Together
Baptism/dedication: parents promise to raise children lovingly as Christians

Support for elderly/handicapped children: Methodist Homes for the Aged
Homosexuality
Evangelicals: "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman that is an abomination" (Leviticus 18)
Roman Catholics: not as God intend as practices can not produce children "Homosexual persons are called to chastity" (Catechism)
Quakers: Church has no say in people's private lives, heterosexuality and homosexuality are no different
Different views: biblical interpretation, changes in modern society, role of the church, choice or design
