Conventions of EDM music videos
  1. Edm stands for Electronic Dance Music and it originated in Chicago in the 1980s
    1. CAMERA SHOTS
      1. Fast cut shots especially in the chorus this is in time with the music present and sustains the audience's interest.
        1. Fast shots to give the audience a sense of the sort of environment that they are in which is usually a club.
          1. Close ups of people to show their enjoyment and essentially freedom that they feel
            1. Mid and Long shots focuses on people dancing to the music in the club or other location. Shows the realism of what you would find in a club.
              1. Shots from a high angle to show the amount of people in the club and the atmosphere of the environment.
              2. EDITING
                1. Series of fast shots which enables the audience to view different angles and different areas within the music video.
                  1. Video is designed to give the audience a sense of euphoria and may make then want to dance in an area similar as the people depicted on screen look like they are having an immense amount of fun.
                    1. Slow motion is used to focus the audience on people's facial expressions and movements, enhancing the things that they may be feeling. A great contrast is created alongside the fast paced editing.
                    2. LOCATION
                      1. Videos are usually shown in club like settings with lots of things going on simultaneously, creating a busy active enviroment
                        1. Locations are usually lively lit and use very vibrant colours - including strobe lighting which is very common.
                          1. Clubs, House parties and gatherings can all be location
