Explains the three states of matter
1. Solid
  1. Fixed, regular arrangement
  2. High density
  3. Vibrate slightly
2. Liquid
  1. Particles can move past each other easily
  2. Less dense
  3. More energy than solids
3. Gas
  1. Free to move independantly
  2. low density
  3. high energy
Density
1. Density = mass/volume
2. you can measure density by measuring water displacement with a eureka can then using the displaced water as your volume for the object
Internal energy
1. Internal energy is the energy the particles have as a combination of their kinetic and potential energy stores
specific latent heat
1. energy goes into breaking bonds instead of increasing temperature
2. The energy needed for 1 kg of a substance to change state
3. Energy = mass * specific latent heat
Pressure and gasses
1. When gasses collide with a container, pressure occurs as the net force pushes outwards
2. Pressure and volume are inversely proportional at a constant temperature
