Synovial Fluid Synovial fluid lubricates and cushions the joints it also nourishes the cartilage keeping the joints healthy
Flexion This is when the angle decreases around the joint Practical example: When a badminton player hits a forehand the arm shows flexion at the elbow
Extention This is when the angle of the bones are moving increases Practical example: when a basketball player drives up to the basket with bent legs
Abduction Abduction movement away from the mid-line of the body Practical example: a gymnast with their leg lifted to the side of there body
Adduction Movement towards the mid-line of the body Practical example: in swimming the recovery from the breaststroke legs
Rotation A circular movement around a fixed point Practical example: a ballet dancer moving into first position rotates the hip joint
Ligament Ligaments as like very strong string that holds bones together
Tendons Tendons attach muscles to bones ( or to other muscles)
Cartilage Cartilage forms cushions between bones to stop them rubbing.
