Peripheral Pulse Throbbing sensation that can be felt over a peripheral artery, such as the carotid or radial artery
Bradycardia Pulse rate <60 b/min
Dysrhythmia Irregular pattern of heart beats
Pulse Deficit when a peripheral rate is lower than an apical heart rate.
Resiprations Measured in vitals called ventilation. count of breaths per minute
Eupena normal, unlabored breathing
Tachypnea increased resp rate
Bradypnea decreased resp rate
Apnea refers to a period of no breathing
hyperventilation increase in rate and depth of breathing
Dyspnea difficult of labored breathing
orthopnea when dyspnea people can breath easier in an upright position
Blood Pressure force of moving blood against the arterial walls.
Systolic Pressure Highest pressure, created with ventricular contraction, or systole.
diastolic pressure lowest pressure on arterial walls. created during diastole or relaxation of the ventricles.
pulse pressure the differences between the systolic and diastolic pressure. SP-DP=PP
Orthostatic Hypotension Postural Hypotension When going from sitting to standing, the BP drops. Systolic BP drops 20 mmhg or Diastolic BP drops 10 mmhg (within 3 minutes)
Korotkoff Sounds the series of sounds heard when listening to the heart. Only heard when using a stethoscope.
