What job does the digestive system have? | Makes food available in a form the body can use. |
What is digestion? | Process of breaking down food into a useable form and making its nutrients available. |
What are the 2 different types of digestion? | - Mechanical - Chemical |
What is mechanical digestion? | The breaking down of food by being crushed, sliced and torn into smaller pieces; its a physical change because no new substances are made. |
What is chemical digestion? | Substances in the food the is broken down into simpler chemicals by saliva in your mouth and gastric juice in your stomach. |
