Question Answer
hormone hormone are chemical messengers which travel in the blood to activate target cells
Neurone Neurone: a nerve cells that carries nerve impulses: electrical impulses that pass along a neurone
Endocrine glands glands that release the substances produced (Hormone) directly into the blood
Target tissues tissues that respond to hormones
Receptor part of a neurone that detects stimuli and converts them into nerve impulses
dendron a long projection of a nerve fibre that conducts impulses to the nerve cell
axon a long projection from a nerve fibre that conducts impulses away from the body of a nerve cell
myelin sheath Acts as an electrical insulator which stops the impulse getting lost.It also speeds up the electrical impulse.
synapse the gap between two adjacent neurons
neurotransmitter a chemical released from the end of a neurone into a synapse and which stimulates the next neurone to trigger new nerve impulses.
