What is a HIC? A HIC stands for high income country which is a developed country and very urban
What does urban mean? A town or a city
What is a slum? An overcrowded urban street or district inhabited by very poor people very polluted or diseased
What is urbanisation? Its a process to make a rural area or urban more urban
What is a rural area? Rural areas are traditionally areas not included in the urban definition, and are usually large, open areas with few houses and few people, as opposed to urban areas which have larger populations

What is a decomposer? an organism, especially a soil bacterium, fungus, or invertebrate, that decomposes organic material.
What is a food chain? A line of linkages that are dependent on each other to survive
What is a food web? A web of linkages that organisms rely on each other to survive
What is abiotic? Non living organisms in the ecosystem such as sun and rain
What is biotic? Living organisms in the ecosystem like animals
What is a biome? a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g. forest or tundra.
Vegetation in tundra? a vast, flat, treeless Arctic region of Europe, Asia, and North America in which the subsoil is permanently frozen
What does vegetation mean? plants considered collectively, especially those found in a particular area or habitat
What is a ecosystem? a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment
Vegetation in the desert? Not many animals and scarse amount of plants and organisms
How have plants adapted in coniferous forest? Coniferous trees have thick bark to protect against the cold. They are cone-shaped, with flexible branches which help them to cope with heavy snow fall.
What is brownfield site? lands that have been used and now waits for a new use commonly found across urban areas
What is dereliction? abandoned buildings and waste land
Economic opportunities? chances for people to improve their standard of living through employment
What is formal economy? This refers to type of employment where people have to work to receieve a regular wage and are assured certain rights
What is greenfield site? A plot of land, often rural or on the edge of a urban area that has not yet subject to any building devolopment?
What is inequalities? differences between poverty and wealth
What is informal economy? this is a type of employment comprises work done without the official knowledge of the government and therefore without paying taxes its common in many lics
What is a mega city? An urban area with a total population of 10million+
What is pollution? The presence of chemicals, noise , dirt or other substances which have harmful or poisonous effects on the enviroment
What is urban sprawl? The unplanned growth of urban areas into the surrounding countryside
What is waste recycling? The process of extracting and reusing found in waste
Traffic congestion? occurs when there is a lot of traffic for roads to cope with so there is a traffic jam
What is urban regeneration? The revival of old parts or even putting in new modern buildings
