PRIMARY IMPACTS - Pyrclastic flow covers 2/3 of island; as a result, 1/2 the pop'n evacuated to the North into makeshift shelters - Schools, Hospitals and and farmland completely destroyed during eruption - Only airport and other ports closed
SECONDARY IMPACTS - People living in unideal unhygienic conditions in North - Many people suffering from respiratory disease due to tephra distributed during eruptions - Tourism numbers decrease - Farmland enriched from eruptions
RESPONCES - UK send £40m in aid - Further £75m sent to support re-establishment of infrastructure etc. - Some evacuees sent to neighbouring island Antigua to live - £2.5k offered to each citizen to migrate to UK
