Question Answer
What is the Sitar? A plucked string instrument with a very long neck and 7 main strings, which are plucked. Also there are 12 'sympathetic' strings which resonate 'in sympathy' with the other strings- to create a shimmering sound.
What is a Tabla? A pair of drums usually played with the fingers. The right drum is the Dayan, it is made of wood and is smaller (and thus higher in pitch). The left drum is the Bayan, which is made of metal and is larger (and thus lower in pitch).
What is the basic structure of Rag Desh? 1. Alap 2. Gatmerm 3. Jhalla
