What is monoponic texture? | all parts move in parallel rhythm and pitch |
What is sonata form? | Basically ABA form. Usually the first movement of the piece serving as the exposition, a development, or recapitulation. |
What is rondo form? | A musical form where the principal theme is repeated several times. The rondo was often used for the final movements of classical sonata form works. ABA/ ABACA/ ABACABA |
What is a cadenza? | Originally an improvised cadence by a soloist. Later it became a written out passage to display performance skills of an instrumentalist or performer. |
What is a cantana? | Music written for chorus and orchestra. Most often religious in nature. |
What is an ostinato? | A repeated phrase. |
