facts -West quay opened in September 2000. - Southampton is the largest city in the county of Hampshire on the south coast of England. -Its situated 75 miles south-west of London and 19 miles north-west of Portsmouth.
Benefits The west quay shopping centre is on the outskirts of the centre of Southampton but it is still connected to the high street. It allows people to still have easy access to the high street which means the high street shops still get business.
why was west quay was built? In Southampton before building west quay they built another place for shopping on the outskirts of town called Gun Wharf Quay, but they soon realised that it was pulling all the business away from the high street, so that’s why west quay was built, making sure it was connected to the high street.
