"mortifying mischief" one reason why he is "sad" is because he lost the war against his brother, mortifying mischief means shameful disgrace.

"any model to build mischief?" this proves that he is an antagonist as he wants to cause trouble between the characters
" my cousin's duty ... to say yes father as you please" this shows that Shakespeare represented Beatrice as a woman who speaks her mind and voices er opinion, unlike her cousin who listens to whatever her "father" asks her to do.this would shock and may even annoy the Shakespearean audience. She is a strong woman
2 he is the prince's jester, a very dull fool" dramatic irony is used here for Beatrice and the audience knows she is talking to benedick but she pretends not to know and makes fun of him.
"farewell, therefore, Hero... I wish him joy to her" this shows that he doesn't care that much about her and that his feeling or her goes that easily.
"The prince's fool! ha" benedick is hurt that Beatrice said such things and is hurt that she didn't recognise him...even though she did.
"She speaks poniards and every word stabs" that means she speaks daggers which shows that what she said must have offended him
"civil as an orange" civil is a pun for Seville which is famous for their oranges and that reminds the reader of bitter...which means the oranges could represent Claudio's jealousy. jealous that the prince took hero for himself
"shall marry the daughter" degrading of Hero ...shows gender roles and how women weren't important. wouldn't say her name
" I am sick in displeasure to him" very negative- represents his character.. as in he is a negative character. emotive language
"any bar, any cross, any impediment" repetition for emphasis. shows how annoyed and how desperate he is to do bad...
