What was Claudio's attitudes towards women? Claudio is shown to be attracted to Hero who could be described as meek and subservient possibly showing that Claudio believes that women should be serving men and it is not their choice to marry, as he asks Leonato not Hero.
What was Leonato's view about women? Leonato essentially sells Hero to Claudio because Claudio is a war hero. This shows he value women as less than men.
What was Benedick's view on women? He was against Beatrice which may be because of her non-womanly behaviour however, he started to love her so his attitudes later on are very positive attitudes towards women
General themes on women That they are 'less than men' and should obey men. The interesting thing is that Beatrice is the complete opposite of what is expected of a woman of those times.
What was the general attitude to women at the time That they were to be used for alliances via marriage or to gain the family wealth via marriage
