Question Answer
Enzyme a biological catalyst. 2 main types: breakers (breaks up molecules) and builders (joins small molecules to big ones).
How it works enzymes are protein molecules made up of long chains of amino acids. they fold together to produce an active site. a substrate fits into the active site and a reaction takes place.
Breaker/ builder- enzyme
specific enzyme
catalase an enzyme that speeds up the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen.
Names of enzymes 1) carbohydrases only break down carbohydrates 2) proteases only break down proteins. 3) lipase break down fat.
Denature when an enzyme can't work due to a factor in the surrounding environment.
