Define Intensity	the measure of the surface damage caused by an earthquake
Define the Mercalli scale	measures the intensity of an earthquake and is based on the effects that are felt in the area
Define magnitude	a measure of the amount of strain energy released by an earthquake
Define isoseismal line	a line on a map which joins up points of equal intensity, separating zones of different intensities
