long term aid -disadvantages- - May result in tied aid - donor countries place restrictions - local people may not have training to operate senior posts - agricultural aid may not be sustainable - too much technology.
Voluntary Aid -definition- non- government organisations which give money, funded by donations and work with local communities.
voluntary aid -advantages- - money is not lost due to corruption - more effective as it works with locals. - the project can expand due to the government
voluntary aid - disadvantages- non governmental organisations present a huge challenge. The aid fluctuates as it is dependant on non government organisations.
Bilateral aid -definition- aid is given from one country to another.
bilateral aid -advantages- sometimes it is used for large scale projects e.g. dams. A country gets advice and technology of country.
bilateral aid -disadvantages- Donor countries can place restrictions on the use of the aid. Countries can be forced to buy the donor country's products. Many countries give aid for political reasons.
Multilateral aid -definition- Money from governments is given to international agencies e.g. world bank. Money is used for development.
advantages and disadvantages of multilateral aid Lots of money can be given to fund large scale projects, however it is often criticised for being out of the touch of the people's needs.
