Placebos During drug trails some people are given a placebo instead of the drug to be tested. The placebo looks identical to the drug and is administered in the exactly the same way as the actual drug but doesn't contain any drug
What is a double blind trail Neither the doctor or the patient know who has received the placebo and who received the drug until after the trail is compete to avoid any bias in the results
Why are placebos given Because it would show if there was any improvement was due to expectation and it would show what improvement was due to the drug
