He attended secondary school in San
José from 1940 and finished his
baccalaureate at the Liceo de Zipaquirá
School, on December 12, 1946.
In 1946, he began his law degree at the Universal Nacional de
Bogotá. After the murder of the liberal politician Jorge Eliécer
Gaitán and the subsequent disturbances that caused the
closure of the university center, García Márquez He moved to
the University of Cartagena to try to continue some studies to
which he gave little interest. In 1950 García Márquez
abandoned his studies
