ADVANTAGES
1. Competencies are specific and practical
  1. They relate to the needs and interests of students
2. The student determines if the competencies are useful and relevant to him.
3. Student knows exactly what he needs to learn.
4. Competencies can be mastered one at a time
  1. Student can see what has been learned and what remains to be learned.
DISADVANTAGES
1. There are no valid procedures to establish competence.
2. it focuses on behavior and performance rather than developing thinking skills.
3. Some of the competencies that are needed in society cannot be put into operation.
4. Dividing activities into skill sets is a reductionist approach.
OBJECTIVE
1. Seeks to teach language in relation to the social context
FOCUSES
1. On learning outcomes or products in language program development.
