Narra la pérdida y recuperación del honor de Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar.
Está compuesto por 3730 versos, distribuidos en tres partes o cantares: Cantar del destierro, Cantar de las bodas y Cantar de la afrenta de Corpes.
Posee las siguientes características: Realismo, nacionalismo, humanismo y fórmulas fijas.
