Resource summary
Cells and Cell Contents
Organelles
Have their own specific role within the cell
Each contribute to the survival of the cell
DIVISION OF LABOUR
Cytoskeleton
Cells contain a network of fibres made of protein
They provide an internal framework = cytoskeleton
Actin filaments
Fibres are able to move against each other
Cause the movement in some white blood cells
Microtubules
May be used to move a microorganism through a liquid
Undulipodia & Cilia
Structurally they are the same
Made up of a cylinder containing nine microtubules arranged in a circle
Another two microtubules in a central bundle
Undulipodia are longer than cilia
Undulipodia and cilia can move
The microtubules use energy produced by Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
Some Bacteria have flagella
Have a different internal structure to Undulipodia
