D&D Game Plotlines (Sins of theFather,
Empires of Sand, Shadows andMasks)
Torvald's Father's Death
Torvald's brother,
Haskell, murdered his
father in single combat.
Haskell has long been an unfeeling, unmerciful killer for
hire that, for a time, worked with the Raufer, but
eventually moved on to slaving for the promise of
payment from one Divone Hanlon and, eventually, doing
the bidding of the necromancer Nil, nephew of the
headmaster of the Onyx Academy, Headmaster Jonas.
The Raufer
Hrafn turned this street gang into a
formidable paramilitary organization and
used them to achieve his own ends.
Nightmare and the Apocalypse
General Snorri Hrafn's Conspiracy
The Undercity
In order to destabilize and eliminate the city of
Silverstadt as a threat to his campaign, Hrafn
negotiated a deal with the vampire Lady Elmerec.
She would use Hobgoblin explosives shipped through a Dwarven transport
company to create a direct path into Silverstadt's royal palace. Once this was
done, she would be able to lead her undead army directly behind
Silverstadt's lines of defense and slaughter, devour, or enslave whoever she
came across. Once this was done, she would hold sway over the city and
allow Hrafn to do as he wished with the rest of the city and country at large.
To aid her in putting this plan into action, she was
given command over the Raufer in the Undercity,
led by Kayl the Bloodforged and Johann Vorhees.
They were to keep the Undercity's population in
control and trample any resistance from the already
established criminal organization: The Silk Dragons.
While Johann seemed perfectly fine with this arrangement,
Kayl, as it was eventually discovered by Torvald while
undercover in The Raufer, was under Hrafn's direct control
through the signet ring he was wearing. If he made any
attempt to remove the ring or act against Hrafn's will, it
would immediately begin killing him from within.
The Sword of Heaven was able to prepare a trap for Kayl and his entourage
with the help of Torvald who, acting as Kayl's highest Lieutenant, convinced
him to go on a specific patrol to investigate recent disruptions. They
managed to strike a fatal blow against the leader of The Raufer, remove the
signet ring, and revive him. Now free of Hrafn's influence, Kayl joined the
Sword of Heaven's efforts to aid the Silk Dragons in reclaiming the Undercity.
The Silk Dragons were eventually aided by The
Sword of Heaven and managed to turn the
tide against The Raufer with the help of their
former leader, Kayl the Bloodforged.
General Hrafn controls specific individuals he sees as particularly
valuable assets through signet rings bearing the symbol of Stilfur.
However he creates these rings, they house something sentient,
malevolent, and powerful. The rings are capable of psychically harming,
or even outright killing those who disobey Hrafn's orders or intent.
