  1. What is social networking?
    1. Social networking is: the use of dedicated websites and applications to interact with other users, or to find people with similar interests to oneself (taken from Oxford Dictionaries).
      1. So, you use social media to social network and engage with other people.
        1. Examples: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, TicToc.
          1. Social media is: websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking (taken from Oxford Dictionaries).
        2. Dangers
          1. Like always, there are dangers that tag along with almost everything that you can do online. Social networking has many, so here is a snapshot of those.
            1. When engaging with someone online remember: YOU DO NOT KNOW THIS PERSON AT ALL- you have know idea who they are and what their intentions are.
              1. Think about what you are posting: does it hold hidden information? Do not tell anyone personal information about yourself. it is bad for someone to know everything about you as they could put that information to dangerous uses.
                1. Photos are bad for this: think about what someone might be able t infer from what they are showing. Also, do you have location on? That is another way for someone to gain information about you.
                2. What you post now will stay with you forever, and can be assessed by colleges, potential employers and insurance boards, in the future.
                  1. Think whether you can be a danger to someone else! Make sure you are not a cyberbully by checking comments/messages are kind and relevant. Also, how would you feel if someone sent this to you?
