    1. There is a close link between behaviour and brain chemicals.
      1. Thoughts and emotions are based on electrical messages which are carried around the by by neurotransmitters such as SEROTONIN & DOPAMINE.
        1. The levels of these chemicals can shape behaviour e.g low levels of Serotonin can cause depressive behaviour.

            1. There is a close link between behaviour and genes.
              1. The genes a person inherits from their parents form a pre-disposition to behave in a certain way.
                1. e.g mental disorders such as schizophrenia may be shaped by several different genes such as DISC1 and G72.
