      1. lowland region that lies between mountains and uplands of northern and southern Europe.
        1. 4000km from SW France-Paris Basin-Belgium-Denmark-SE England-Germany-Poland-Central Europe
        2. Region slipped beneath sea.
          1. Sedimentary Rocks built up.
            1. After region uplifted, rocks were bent and warped, not sharply deformed-folding+ faulting
              1. terrain is flat/gently undulating.
        3. SHAPING LANDSCAPE
          1. WATER
            1. Seine and Rhine + more drain landscape.
              1. drainage basins have a cover of alluvial soils.
                1. North Sea Coast, longshore drift + deposition have straightened much of coast.
                  1. Sand Dunes border coast
                    1. Drained polders of Netherlands lie below sea level.

                  1. Glacial + Fluvio-glacial deposits cover land.
                    1. Terminal Moraines, Boulder clay plains and Outwash planes- Denmark
