  1. Eating Healthily
    1. There are 6 essential nutrients needed for a balanced diet.
      1. Carbohydrates are made up of simple sugars like glucose. they are stored in the liver as glycogen or converted to fats. It is found in foods such as pasta, rice, cereal
        1. Fats are made up of fatty acids and glycerol. They can be stored under the skin and around organs as adipose tissue.
          1. Proteins are made up of amino acids. They don't get stored.
            1. Fibre help digest food and prevent constipation. It is found in fruits and vegetables.
          2. Diet Problems
            1. Consuming too little protein can lead to Kwashiorkor, the most common symptom is a swollen stomach.
            2. BMI
              1. Body Mass Index or BMI can be measured with this formula: Body mass(kg) ÷ (height)²
                1. However, BMI can be inaccurate. because muscle weighs 4x as much as fat, a very muscly person would be classed as overweight or obese. A very tall and thin person is likely to be classed as Underweight.
                  1. Proteins
                    1. Animal proteins are called 'first class proteins'. Plant 'Proteins are called 'Second class proteins'
                      1. EAR
                        1. Calculation for Estimated Average daily Requirement (EAR) of protien formula: EAR(g) = 0.6 x body mass(kg)
                          1. EAR is only an estimate, it will also vary with teenagers and pregnant and breastfeeding women
